Crab Feeeeast!!

First: check out this sweeeeet giveaway!

Before I get to the title of my post, let’s go quickly through everything else shall we?

STP63729

Pumpkin Oats. The same mix as yesterday but I kept it simpler and put some Kashi on top and a tiny of bit of blueberry muffin. And of course a drizzle of peanut butter!

STP63756

Snackie before sociology. I mixed some plain yogurt with a little pumpkin, cinnamon, and honey. Topped with a chunk of muffin and tiny bit of almond butter, and this was delicious. It would be sooo much better with some Greek yogurt though. I’m just trying to get through my icky fat free container though :/

The sun was shining again today, and I snapped some photos of the beautiful trees and scenery on my campus.

STP63737

I pass this on my way into math in the morning, and isn’t it just so gorgeous!? It’s a vibrant orange, red, and yellow and I just adore it. I don’t want the leaves to fall off!

STP63740

STP63741

This is what I see when I go outside…

STP63744

Am I lucky or what? I have the most gorgeous campus, I swear.

STP63760

Boring lunch. I’m getting tired of this chili, but luckily only one more serving left!

STP63761

At least the edamame was new and delicious. Not that the chili wasn’t good, but I’m ready for something new!

Okay, sooo back to the title of the post! Everyone knows Maryland is famous for their crabs, and every year my school has a student crab feast. I bought my ticket two weeks ago, and I was suuuper excited. I’ve had crabcakes in Seattle before, but I know MD crab is much different. Plus I’d never experienced the fun (and extreme messiness) of breaking open your own crabs!

I went with a bunch of friends and we had a great time. Here’s how it was all set up:

STP63777

Just tons and tons of tables all set up so we could eat side by side. Of course they were all covered in paper!

You turned in your ticket to get 4 or 8 crabs (depending on the cost of your ticket) and then there was also a buffet of side dishes. We all got our crabs and were ready to go!

STP63764

Old Bay is the BESTTT seasoning. Especially for crabs. It just goes wonderfully. Actually, over the summer the school sent all new students crab mallets, bibs, and a bottle of Old Bay. It was awesome.

STP63768

This was one of my friend’s plates. She had cornbread muffins, some kind of coleslaw, and chicken. There was also corn on the cob (I was excited about this til I saw they were literally soaked in butter, bah!), crab bisque, and I think that’s it? Oh, chocolate cake for dessert. I just picked up a muffin. It was actually quite delicious, but I only had room for a few bites.

STP63770

That’s Lauren and Jon. Lauren’s actually my RA (best RA evaaa!) and Jon lives upstairs. He’s from Denmark and had never had crab before! Lauren was pro and had to show us all the best ways to open it.

STP63769

Doris and Su listening carefully to Lauren’s instructions. Doris is my friend from Holland and this was her first crab experience too!

STP63775

Man, it’s time for a haircut!

STP63776

The guy seducing the camera is Shunske. He’s from Japan, and is such a funny and nice guy! Living with the exchange students is the best, and I’m soo glad for the opportunity everyday. I love my foreigners! ๐Ÿ˜›

I’m surprisingly not that full after 8 crabs…yeah someone had an extra ticket so I jumped on that. I wasn’t expecting the crab to be incredible since you know, they had to buy hundreds of them for the students. But it was really delicious! A lot of work for lots of little bites. No wonder crab meat is so expensive!

I’m off to study for a math exam, but I hope you all enjoyed that. I absolutely love my school, and am having so much fun here.

Thanks Mom and Dad ๐Ÿ˜€ MUAH!
